Log In Play Free. Exocor However, in the absence of a screen including a clock, I have to go a more complicated way to prove my claim. This two screens are proving that we killed the boss in 16m VM. Thanks for providing this thread to track kills and also thanks for including PTS-kills as well, since everyone has access to it, it should've been no problem to compete for World First. Anyway there is one reason that unites every single one of them, one reason that is stopping all of them playing this game.
That reason is lack of world PvP. Now first off lets define what we me and my on-line buddies define as world PvP. Warning I am about to mention World of Warcraft, people that can't cope should stop reading now and go into a corner, suck their thumb and cry rivers. World PvP is when you are out questing in "The World" and then all of a sudden you get attacked by enemy faction players. You may be fighting a mob, there may be 5 of the enemy players, you may die in under 5 seconds, whatever, this is called World PvP.
No i hear you say, this is called Ganking No one likes being killed by other players, especially when they are higher level or outnumber you. However this brings a whole new game to the table, it means the nice pretty world is a very dangerous place and lets be honest, most people like a bit of danger in their gaming.
And if you don't then thats fine, there are PvE servers, basically if you can't cope with being ganked roll PvE but stop ruining it for people like me who like danger. My friends tell me they refuse to spend hours and hours every night playing a game that is about as dangerous as putting on a hat.
They want excitment, adventure, they want to be chased of high level players, they want to be ganked by 5 or 6 people, they want their little Republic outpost attacked by 30 or 40 Empire players, they want their NPC's massacred, they want a world that is real!!! And so do I. SWTOR is just lifeless, no ones is ever going to return to a zone once they have out levelled it. Why would you? You can't attack the enemy faction bases because even on level 20 worlds they have a zillion level 50 elite guards with k hp.
Honestly you are digging your own graves here by making sure no one is every allowed to have fun. You are telling us how we have to have fun and guess what, it's not fun. They could sneak into Orgrimmar and kill the auctioneers, we could storm Ironforge and kill their king. Every zone after The Barrens had massive crossover questing that ensured we would all be fighting eachother as we levelled up. WOW was exciting, dangerous and fun.
SWTOR is stale, lifeless and boring if you like pvp. This is not just me waffling, this is actual fact as I have a large list of friends that prove me right and judging by the amount of people already left this game I would say we are not the only ones. Like spice, the data must flow. Determining drop rates and loot tables, or culling useful statistics from other game mechanics, is extremely difficult without access to more data. Visually, the game looks a bit long in the tooth.
The periodic implementation of graphical improvements would be welcome. Again, this is partly due to the length of the development cycle, but I understand that the limitations of the Hero Engine itself are also a factor.
Another reason would be that the bulk of game development has been focused on story elements and gameplay mechanics and from what I understand, updating the underlying mechanics of the Hero Engine. And somehow, in spite of the push to create new visuals that rival the old and take advantage of the newest and best in graphics hardware, it remains a game that is accessible to wide range of hardware. As I've said before in other posts, you guys have been great. Keep the ideas and the discussion going.
Hey everyone, I just wanted to hop in to this thread and commend everyone on how respectful and constructive the feedback has been. We have been reading all of your feedback and will certainly pass it on to the appropriate teams. We will continue to watch this thread as well for anything else that is added. We always love to see threads like these! I had hoped to get a response from a community manager at some point, but didn't think it would be quite this soon, if at all.
This is a pretty significant accomplishment, and you should all take at least a little comfort by the fact that Bioware is seemingly very interested in what we've done here, and what we'll hopefully continue to do. I don't think we should we pop the Champagne and throw a party now, no, but it is significant all the same. They have a lot on their plates and we may not see some of these changes right away, but it should be enough to know that they're listening, they're taking our issues seriously, and that they'll get to them when they can.
So, although we've received a response from Eric Musco of the community team, and information is making its way to the various development teams, our work is far from over. And while we must remain vigilant, we should continue to observe decorum and afford them the respect they deserve--even when they're being quiet, and even if the changes don't come right away. Now, with that out of the way, I'd like to set about placing here some of the suggestions that have been made by others.
I think we're at 31 pages right now, and it's a lot to ask for someone to read through all of that. Below, I will organize and try to summarize as much as I can, as well as offer my own commentary where applicable. Your Papercuts Many people have voiced support for some of my suggestions, so I will not repeat them here unless there has been any relevant discussion that adds anything to them, or offers an opposing viewpoint.
This is a placeholder for now, as compiling the list of your suggestions is going to take quite a while. Very impressed with your post. You make some excellent points and I hope that most of them will be addressed.
I made a previous post on the differences between appearances when equipping such items as the Traditional Brocart Vestments on a female and a male, and would really really like the ability to chose NOT to have the top be cut off at the midriff on my SI.
Most of the beautiful artwork on this chest piece is removed as there is elaborate detailing around the waist when displayed on a male character.
Plus there's the fact that it's one of the few sets that is not black, red or purple centric. As for faction specific items, this same set displays radically differently depending on whether or not you are Empire or Republic.
On the Republic side, this set looks like the robes that the Revanites on Dromund Kaas wear, something I'm sure quite a few Imperials would love to look like.
One thing I don't think I caught is our companions insisting on not putting away their weapons. It's annoying and seems random.
I have no idea what triggers it but it shows that yes, they will sheathe their weapons when not in use. One thing I would like to suggest to add to the UI functionality is a right mouse click menu for items in our inventory.
On it would be certain options that would include "Equip on Character," "Equip on Companion," "Never sell to vendor" for those items you may want to keep in your inventory but may forget when it's full of other things , "Never RE" so you don't accidentally RE an item you didn't intend to , and I had a few other ideas but have forgotten them.
Maybe a "Equip on Companions always having you fixated with their gaze. It looks very unnatural in a lot of cases, such as when you stand on an elevation and they bend their backs and necks looking like something straight out of the exorcist.
Just have them look straight ahead. Tionese crystals. Like, what's the use of these again? By the time you have enough tionese commendations to buy an item, it's impossible to not be swimming in these.
Either give them a REAL purpose or remove them. The world boss weekly missions. I'd believe the latter was supposed to be one for the lower tier, cut the Pilgrim out there, it already has it's own weekly.
This is a fantastic suggestion. As a guy, I almost never play a female character unless it's the only option, or it makes sense for the roleplay, as I feel it would be disingenuous of me to do so. So my experience with the game as it relates to female characters is limited at best. I truly appreciate your taking the time to illustrate this. If NPCs can get away with it, why can't we? In the case of EVE Online, pod pilots players are viewed by their crew and by the planetary inhabitants of the four empires to be nothing short of Gods because of their ability to live forever through clones.
Players ought to have, at least in the end game, more power and freedom than the majority of NPCs in a given game. This absolutely irks me, too, lol. And Jandoon, above, mentions that companions are always staring directly at you, regardless of their position and orientation, which looks terribly unnatural. I've seen some contortionists in my day, but with the way Mako has twisted herself around, I'm certain she's broken something by now.
The UI feels very incomplete and unintuitive, and still needs a lot of work. Right-click context menus are something else that's in EVE that I'm also used to using in modern operating systems, so it often just makes sense. DC Universe Online may have a lot of interesting ideas, but the game is not without its own very deep flaws. I haven't done much in the way of end game content yet, and I've only tackled a few world bosses so far, so thanks for this insight.
There should be more vending options for them. And when they're of no use to one character, having them in a Legacy Wallet would make them useful to another. Some things in chat should be possible to hotkey ie: east incoming I, too, would like to see this. WoW may be old and tired, but it does have a couple of interesting and relevant ideas, and being able to set macros and hotkeys would be one of them. Here's another: NPC bystander conversations that you keep hearing even if you move away.
You keep hearing them even if you're on a speeder halfway across the planet. Also, they interfere with mission conversations, sometimes making the stuff you want to listen to hard to hear. I have to say I agree with every single point made here except for one: I don't mind the way the outfits look.
Fashion trends change. This one is a bit more than a papercut, but gotta mention respawn times for mission objectives. These really has to go down across the board, makes for a lot of annoyance when questing, and will only be worse when there's an influx of F2Pers. Get the impression that most missions that require an objective to be picked up or interacted with are designed with the mindset that no more than two people will do them at a time.
Edit: The republic puzzle for the event treasure on Coruscant is case and point. We should also be able to unify colors and hide the head slot on our companions. Sure, I'm looking great compared to before that update, but my companion still looks like a clown. I find this also incredibly annoying, and it's obviously a bit bugged.
Hopefully it can be addressed. I don't want to remove the armor sets that are already present as I'm sure there are people that like them. As I said, it's a matter of personal taste.
But I do think there should be more armor sets in line with the grander Star Wars theme of form following function and practicality.
That said, would I say no to an armor style lit up in the vein of Tron: Legacy's costumes? I can't say I would, lol. I think it'd look cool, but that's just a personal taste thing. I've noticed this, too, and have forgotten it as I don't use Xalek on my Inquisitor. Good catch!
This is annoying to me, too. However, my usual workaround is to wait for an area to get populated enough to switch phases. My guess is that, with the influx of F2P folks, more areas are likely to have more phases. Of course, it's also possible that the developers could lower the player cap for areas that are particularly busy in order to mitigate respawn issues.
Lowering respawn timers could help, but I have to wonder if there might be other solutions we have yet to consider. They've actually stated recently that they've been working on this and it should be included with the next update.
Probably a major update, rather than a collection of bugfixes. The ability to save a hotbar configuration. I'd like to be able to save my hotbars, layout, which abilities are in which slots, hotkey bindings, etc; so that when I respec or change roles, I can reload the appropriate hotbar configuration.
If my companion was out when I mounted up, then it should still there when I dismount Far too often you dismount and your companion does not reappear, even though you meet the requirements to summon them. This happens while in a group with one other person very often. Scroll panes in crafting windows scroll too slowly when using the mouse wheel I'm sure there are other examples where this is also the case.
I have many more simple suggestions in subsequent posts in this thread. Below are some of my rantings about balance and poor game design. Holding aggro is far too reliant on taunting. Tanks do pathetically little damage. Holding aggro very often devolves into taunt Save for maybe the first couple seconds of a fight. Your damaging abilities are virtually meaningless in comparison to the effectiveness of taunting every 15 seconds.
Again, as a tank, I'm not in control of my destiny. I can really only occupy one mob for more than 2 seconds.
I just kind of stand around playing with my new friend until the rest of the group cleans up and gets around to me. If it weren't for boss fights, you'd be better off with 3 dps instead of a tank and 2 dps.
Cast-through ability activation If I have an enemy targeted, and it has a friendly player targeted, I should be able to cast Intercede without manually switching targets first and then manually switching back to my previous target. Ability to save talent specs, so that when my talents are all refunded, I can choose a previously-saved spec, have my talent choices filled in, then I can review them, make changes if I want, and commit. Ability to equip a pre-configured set of gear with a single command or button click.
Tank companions should have more of a use in world pvp than just tying up the other companion. Maybe their taunt should work similar to player taunts. Don't make me open the social window, click in the text field, and erase whatever text is already in there.
And more often than not I need to search twice in a row because the first search simply returns the whole who list again. Power Auras mod. Either let me use the mod, or re-implement similar functionality in your game.
They got it right, you got it really, really wrong. Don't make me respawn outside of an instance when I die. The 3-minute-long load screens are horrible. Quick Travel is restricted in certain areas. Why do I need to run through the air lock, down the elevator, and out the front door of the space station before I can use Quick Travel? In-Game Combat Log It should show me all the same information that's already being written to the log file.
Short of alt-tabbing out of the game, uploading a file to a 3rd party web site, and reviewing my incoming damage for the past 3 minutes, I have no way of knowing if I'm "Standing in the Fire". Floating combat text is not sufficient when there are multiple sources of damage at the same time. A map that isn't horribly limited.
If I'm on the station, I should be able to browse to the map of Tatooine. I should be able to browse to the Dune Sea section from the "World Map" section without having to first find a door icon that I need to click into and then back out of.
While on the subject of bad maps, perhaps the ability to add annotations to the maps would be nice. Stop closing my inventory window. If I have my inventory open before I talk to a vendor, it should remain open after I close the vendor window. My biggest issues and I hope they address above all else, given the supposed recommended specs to play this game: - Load times are too long, and too frequent at times.
Even if you're not in the same area! Usually during peak population hours. Other things I have problems with: - No chairs that are usable to sit on.
All should be equally visible. There is a Social X apparently?! Does anyone ever make it that far? Wow, high expenses everywhere! Oh, and that window sometimes seems too small to see details, and does NOT take into account Unify Colors. What about a height adjustment? A truly round female, like the males get? A short female? I'll add more as I think of them. Seeing them all in one thread, here after 8 months, just makes me shake my head somewhat sadly. I too would like to see a Legacy link to my credits and other forms of payment.
This is something I very much wanted in WoW as well. On that topic, I would like for either what I have expanded to stay expanded in that tab, or allow me to rearrange it. I'm I don't care about the planetary rewards other than the daily comms.
Which I'd rather see in the operation tab anyway as an "end game" commendation. As for the API not being out. I can understand why they'd want to limit it. Being that it opens up a lot of issues of people finding a way to use a bug or create an app that helps them cheat.
But I do wonder if it has to do with the engine as a hole. There are still features that this game should have that are in fact taking a while to come out.
It has come a long way since release though. Things I'd like to voice my opinion on: -No boss mods. I hate things things.
This my 1 reason for being perfectly fine with never seeing an API coming out. Person or not. Don't care. You could add guild perks to allow guilds to manage this better. Using 3rd party programs doesn't bother me that much, but an in game recount just works best. They had it perfect. Right now the current setup feels too dumbed down for me to really get it how I want it. I know you guys get this one a lot. But it really makes it a pain to watch my own dots on a boss.
I found this most annoying my recently 50 sorc who easily gets lost in it. Three afflictions up on a boss. I just got use to refreshing it after every Crushing Darkness. Half way considered dropping the talent points to extend it's duration, as it makes it pointless if I cutting off the dot.
Anyone who played Tera would have an idea of what I'm talking about. It's a mini-map type area that shows just roads and places of interest on your screen. Add in an option to only show it when mounted and getting around just got a lot easier.
Legacy: -Money link was already said. This is also one I'd get very exited for. I'd love to be a fresh 50 running around in mounts no longer available or off end bosses.
Even more so as a level Right now the feel of a speeder is kind of bad. I don't feel like I'm going that fast as compared to the movies. Add an option to go super fast in low-danger areas to increase the fun.
Space: -Missions scale with level! It kind of annoys me seeing a reused mission that I've already outleveled. The daily could offer two missions randomly to add a random feel to it. They also tend to get boring very fast.
I can't bring myself to do them again by But if I could maybe do something other than the 3 and still get my reward, I'd be much more willing. They're boring. I'd like to option to have more ready-to-fire missiles at maybe the cost of total in bay missiles. Maybe higher fire power at cost of total shield. Fire speed vs shield recharge rate. Lower armor for faster on screen movement.
I don't hate the way you guys did space missions. I'm disappointed in them. But don't hate them. I definitely find them boring though. Kind of worries me that you guys have said you have plans to expand space missions. And have said that 10 more new ones are coming at the F2P launch. You have not said how the missions will work. But I do worry you have not changed anything. Content: - More than 4 bosses for the next operation please. No more important world bosses please. Not a requirement.
Nightmare Pilgrim should drop any random campaign piece and then a different boss drop the boots. Perhaps getting all 4 chests in EC grants a 5th after Kephess that has the boots in it. But linking it to a world boss just just annoying. Companions: - Feel as though they stop mattering at I got my Quinn geared out and that's about it.
Three companions affection past enough to get the bonus. I just can't feel an interest in doing the other two. Jaesa sent me a wedding present and I really haven't heard from her in the past 6 months. I'm sure some guys out there are thinking "wish I could be that lucky in real life" but if I didn't want it to be part of a storyline, I would of just ignored both her and Vette.
Suppose I stop there. I never got a companion to full affection so I don't know if this has been implemented After a companion gets to maximum affection, they should get the best possible gear you can have for them- may sound strange, but the gear would be even better than the best player gear- since companions aren't smart enough to make a major difference anyhow.
Ofc, players couldn't wear it. I know they added the cooldown to fix an exploit, but I highly doubt a 2 minute cooldown is needed. What a great idea for a thread. The concept of "A Thousand Papercuts" is a good one -- sure, little things are no big deal, but add up enough of 'em. Issue: Certain gear styles lose half their fabric on female characters.
I am not against skimpy gear, but most of the beautiful details waist piece, wrappings, etc of these pieces are lost when worn by female characters. And I find it rather unfair and sexist that this only happens with female characters. Suggestion: For these types of gear, simply add a toggle so that players can choose if they want the male or female version. I have seen the "male" versions on my female Companions in the preview window, so I doubt this requires a bunch of new art.
And don't worry, the servers won't implode if you give male characters the option of baring their torsos. Issue: Smuggler and certain other AC's, likely doesn't put weapon away after buffing or using out of combat health regen.
This gets annoying when you have to manually put the weapon away for the 2,th time or run with the silly weapon-out run. Suggestion: When a weapon is unsheathed to apply a buff or use the out of combat health regen, have it automatically put back when the action is either finished or cancelled. Issue: It is very expensive to remove mods esp. Suggestion: Either remove or drastically reduce the cost of removing mods.
Issue: Certain social armor is gender restricted. This is both pointless and sexist. Why can't a female character wear a pair of black pants?
How is the Elegant set any less appropriate for males than the stuff my Consular wears? And who in the galaxy thought it was acceptable to allow female characters and only female characters to dress as slaves or exotic dancers? Suggestion: Allow ALL social gear to be equipped by both genders. Again, the servers won't implode if you allow male characters to show some skin too. Issue: The "canned responses" you get from Companions when you click on them do not change, regardless of their affection level or relationship status.
Surely, those gruff or closed off Companions that warm up to your character and become their friend should be a bit less chilly than when you first met them, and if romance is involved, I'd imagine the replies would take on a different flavor as well. Suggestion: Give Companions new "canned responses" when either a you max their affection and complete all their quests or b you reach a certain point in romancing that Companion.
Everything here is a complaint or suggestion of mine, so I'm gonna give a Fist Bump of Approval to help keep it going :D. Searchable inventory and bank. Rift does this very well. You type in what you're looking for, and items which don't match are dimmed out as you're typing of course, partial string matching.
I completely agree with this point of contention. It's quite the annoyance. Furthermore, I really like your idea of a Quick Travel to your ship.
The text for Quick Travel says "A shuttle has been dispatched," so why can't one of your companions swing by and pick you up? Good idea. You've got a lot of interesting ideas, Amuntet. Thank you for posting them. But if you could keep them condensed into one post for your ideas, I would be greatly appreciative. If, a few hours later, you feel the need to add more, feel free to make another post, but please keep it tidy. Load times are too long, and too frequent at times. I find this quite annoying, too.
But do understand, as games have grown more complex--especially in the artistic sense--there is a significant amount of data that's being read from source and written into memory.
However, I do think that there could, perhaps, be some optimizations made in this area. You'll be quite happy about with the results. FPS freezing when opening various UI elements[ All UI elements ought to be loaded into RAM, not loaded on-use from the hard drive which is where the bottleneck and pause is coming from. I think there could be some other CPU-related performance improvements, as well. Logging in and having broken animations until restarting the game. Also an annoyance. Although these could have more to do with network synchronization issues than anything relating to data reads from source into RAM.
Inability to preview weapons in the visual preview window for gear. I believe I may have heard something about this being worked on for a future release, but I'm not entirely certain of that. Regardless, this can be a bit frustrating when I just want to know what a damned weapon looks like. I know it's hard seeing them all together like this, but that's the point. It has to sting a lot, all at once, instead of little by little, to get the community organized and eager enough, to get the attention of community managers and developers, and to get these changes actually implemented.
As for the API not being out[ Thank you for illustrating the view from the other side of the coin. Absolutely, there ought to be more UI configuration options. As a former WoW player I quit shortly before WotLK and, after my account got hacked and frozen 2 years after the fact, I never went back , I have used Bartender and I think it's a great addon.
Some of its features would be very welcome, indeed. Linked mounts [ That's the whole point of Legacy, isn't it? Partly to allow your other character 'descendants' to inherit your property. Besides which, I'm sure a lot of parents, aunts, uncles, etc.
Seems only natural that other Legacy characters ought to have access to them, too, since you can only play one character at a time. You make a lot of interesting suggestions regarding end game stuff, which I'm not overly familiar with as yet, but I appreciate them all the same, and I'm sure they're going to start mattering to me a lot more in the near future.
I also find this troubling. I know we're meant to play with other players for high-level content, but there are times when it's difficult to fill out a group and it's necessary to have companions fill that role. Unfortunately, our companions just can't keep up.
DCUO implemented an interesting idea a while back in their instances and raids--if a player of a certain type i. For example, if your group lacks a healer, each party member would receive a small, hidden heal-over-time buff. With some tweaks to the idea, and in concert with a buff to companions, I think this would help considerably. I have two companions at maximum affection on my Inquisitor, and no, there isn't anything like this.
But it's a very interesting idea. I think a general buff to companions at high levels, as mentioned above, might help mitigate the need for a uniquely exclusive set of gear. This is a tricky one to be sure. It is easy to exploit, but after having been trapped on tons of rocks in the mountainous regions of Alderaan Maybe they can simply tweak the terrain a bit, though it could be quite time consuming to do so.
Tough nut to crack. It is very expensive to remove mods[ I'm sure it's fine for people that have 6 level 50 characters running dailies, operations, and hard mode flashpoints all day, but there are those of us who have other things to do with our time.
Kind of a lofty goal, though, but I know it can be done--I've seen test footage of other games using the Hero Engine swapping armor appearances and changing color palettes.
Certain social armor is gender restricted. I completely and wholeheartedly agree. Besides, there just might be some executive transvestites out there who want to dress in the Elegant set.
Fantastic dress with fantastic shoes and impeccable makeup. What a mindjob would that be for some Republic soldiers to see a group of Marauders dressed to the nines hot-dropping into their camp. They've got lightsabers! I was surprised. Were you surprised? This would be nice to remedy, as well, as I play the game primarily for the story right now. I have a feeling that we may see lots of companion love in the future, though. Perhaps after the winter expansion. That would be very nice, indeed, especially for crafters.
They just added this not too long ago in EVE Online. Although, I would go a step further and suggest that it be searchable regardless of location. On that note, I think the crafting UI could use some serious attention. Aforementioned load times are bothersome, and there's no contextual search within it, just a series of drop down boxes to narrow your list.
A toggle to holster companions' weapons. I am talking to Senator Importantperson. I don't want Bowdaar standing behind me looking like the batter at the plate.
Can anything be done about loadscreens? They sometimes seem to take over the game. More as they occur to me. Kalyio can equip a blaster rifle and a shield generator. I dont understand why the duel wield ones cant. Another minor thing that bugs me: An "Unavailable at this time" error that randomly happens while on the Fury. Also, the fact that in Taspan Ambush, the shuttle commits suicide by crashing into the asteroids. Elevators need to be synchronized so that at the same time as one reaches the top, another reaches the bottom- if there's more than 2, those would be somewhere between.
It's annoying how when you barely miss 1 elevator, you barely miss all of them because they're all going the same direction. Here are the ones I wanted to emphasize: My biggest issues and I hope they address above all else, given the supposed recommended specs to play this game: - Load times are too long, and too frequent at times.
Also - No ready check, despite promises in March. Not sure if it was related to the disconnects many experienced, but now instead of a disconnect there's a 30 second lag spike that happens regularly at least times per night. I'd suggest an easy to read, highlight or otherwise in the tooltip, the schematics that a character already possesses.
This will really remove one headache from the game. Additionally, some BOP schematics in raids I understand - we shouldnt be able to simply sell or mail them to characters that havent completed the content. This is part of their gating of the content.
