Which phuket beach is best

There are two Kata beaches, not one: Kata Noi to the north, smaller and less congested, and Kata Yai to the south, where most of the action can be found.

The shallow seas off Kata Yai allow easier, safer snorkeling access to the nearby coral reefs. Sunset viewing on the beach is further improved with the view of Ko Pu in the immediate distance. The much quieter Kata Noi offers a quieter alternative to its busy northern counterpart. A popular beach with families, Kamala Beach benefits mainly from its proximity to the Phuket FantaSea theme park and the two weekend markets within walking distance of the beach.

The northern end of Kamala has a hawker area where you can buy cheap Thai food. This long beach is surprisingly undeveloped; years of legal disputes have kept most of the beachfront free from encroaching resort development.

Near the beach, tourists can shop at Boat Avenue or Tinlay Place, a short drive away. The Laguna Phuket resort complex occupies much of the land behind the beach. If your idea of a sandy getaway is whacking your way out of a sandtrap, the Laguna complex hosts an hole golf course for your driving pleasure. Because Bangtao is so long, visitors can be spaced out more generously, allowing them to have plenty of space to themselves!

The southernmost beach on the west coast, Nai Harn has a down-home feel to it that makes it a popular haunt for Thai locals. Relatively undeveloped, with a safely-sloping seabed, a kid-friendly lagoon inlet, and lifeguards on constant guard, this distant beach is a relaxing alternative to party spots like Patong Beach.

Eateries and restaurants on the southern end of the beach road behind Nai Harn serve up inexpensive local fare. This point of the beach road leads onto a popular jogging path surrounding the nearby Nai Harn Lake; visit during the Thai festival of Loi Krathong in November, when locals place flowers with candles on the lake surface and let them float away. Formerly only accessible by boat the owners of the land in front of the beach closed access for several years , the hidden beach of Laem Singh now welcomes tourists by land as well.

An access stairway leads from the street down to Laem Singh. Snorkelers find plenty to see in the waters around the rocks on the beach, particularly those on the southern end. The beach scene itself has seen better days: once a famous party beach, Surin lost most of its beach clubs, bars, and restaurants over the years. Motorized watersports are rare to nonexistent around Surin Beach; kayaks in the high season and surfboards in the low season are more common.

Paradise Beach Club throws both Full Moon and New Moon Parties , twice-monthly excuses to get drunk on cheap beer and get down with overly friendly fellow tourists while dancing to music provided by international DJs. Facilities-wise, Paradise Beach Club is pretty much the only game in town.

Blessed with powdery white sand, clear teal waters, and tranquility from being overshadowed by the larger Kata, this little paradise is also lined with a few eateries, convenience stores, massage parlors, and bars. Fun banana speedboats, parasailing wings, kayaks, and jet skis are also available at Kata Noi! The southern end of Kata Noi also offers great snorkeling opportunities. Sheltered by towering palm trees, Paradise Beach stretches for only feet, but its name says it all.

This paradise might be small, but it packs a lot of beauty and convenience for beach bums. Boasting the softest beach floor, the softest sand, and pale teal water, Paradise Beach also offers exciting beach activities and beach parties at night!

Paradise Beach offers full-moon, half-moon, and black-moon parties that feature beach barbecue, great music, and amazing fire shows. Patong, Kathu Phuket Thailand. The shore is filled with tourists, beach activities, palms, vendors, masseurs, hotels, boats, and so much more.

Patong is where everything happens and where tourism started, and its town gets rowdy and raunchy at night. Bangtao Beach, Laguna Phuket , Thailand. Almost four miles long, Bangtao Beach boasts the longest shoreline in the island. There are several hotels and beach clubs fronting the sea too, so if you were looking for a relaxing beachfront stay, Bangtao is the place to be.

Bangtao is a charming area to stay in. There are plenty of shopping opportunities in the area, most of them centralized at the entrance of Laguna Phuket. Choeng Thale, Thalang Phuket , Thailand. Welcome the sun and get a tan, or try out local food at the beachside eateries. The summer waves may look calm, but you have to be a strong experienced swimmer to venture far from the shoreline.

The rip currents here can be powerful. If you thought Massachusetts has the only singing beach in the world, Phuket has Karon. Its vast expanse of squeaky white sand, gentle clean waters, array of Thai eateries, and peaceful beachside town make it one of the best beach spots in Phuket. Rawai, Muwang Phuket Thailand. The 2,foot Nai Harn Beach is one of the rarely overcrowded beaches in Phuket, and much of it remains relatively untouched.

Ya Nui is rather famous despite its size, what with its picture-perfect scenery and wealth of shells and coral. The sun-baked sand and gentle sea welcome snorkelling, kayaking, and fishing during the summer.

Nai Yang is a beautiful little hideaway far from crowded beaches but with enough to do all year round to have a good time. Naithon Beach is another hidden gem on the west coast of Phuket because it is far from the main road. The beach is immense, the colour of the sea is surreal in high season, and the sand is soft and white, perfect for those in search of a peaceful spot with just enough facilities.

There are a few restaurants and convenience stores around to provide what you need for a weekend escape. Ideally, you should rent a car or a motorbike to make the best of a stay in Naithon. It might feel a little too quiet if you plan to stay during the low season, from May to November, but some travellers like it this way. Ao Sane is a tiny hidden beach, visible from Nai Harn Beach , but you will never find out unless you know that you need to drive through The Nai Harn hotel.

Ao Sane consists of three tiny sandy bays, and you can walk from one to another through the few beach bungalows. Phuket is a worldwide famous holiday destination. Every corner of this tropical island has been explored, invaded, sold, developed and exploited. Or so you thought! Panwa Beach, also known as Khao Kat Beach, is not a swimming beach, and yet has the charm of these remote bays not many would take the time to explore while visiting Phuket.

Located on the east coast but facing west, the area is home to luxury villas and few resorts, a great alternative to relax away from west coast crowded spots. Located at the south end of Phuket island, Rawai is not a swimming beach but offer beautiful views on the many nearby islands in a peaceful local atmosphere.
