When he wakes up, he looks at his thinner reflection in the mirror. Sam arrives and takes him to a banquet chattering on about what has been going on. Frodo is reunited with Pippin and Merry and they enter the banquet-hall of Elrond.
The ageless elf is seated at the head of the table with Gandalf and Glorfindel at either side. Near the center of the table sits a beautiful female elf named Arwen , the daughter of Elrond. She is the loveliest creature Frodo has ever seen. The dwarf , Gloin , is sitting next to Frodo. He asks the hobbit why he has come to Rivendell and Frodo politely says that he doesn't think he is supposed to talk about it. Gloin speaks of dwarves and the situation under the mountain from where he comes.
Seven of the thirteen dwarves who traveled with Bilbo are still living. Frodo says that he misses Bilbo greatly. After the feast he ends up talking to Gandalf. Elrond stands and speaks to a figure sleeping in the shadows. Bilbo stands up and looks at Frodo. He already knew that his nephew was present because he watched him while he was sleeping. Frodo sits with his uncle and they talk for a while. When Bilbo left the Shire , he traveled slowly towards Rivendell.
After that, he went all the way to the other side of Mirkwood and came back again. He was surprised when he heard from Elrond how much trouble his Ring was causing and thought about going back to the Shire to retrieve it. Bilbo asks to see the ring and reaches when Frodo shows it to him. Frodo gets angry and thinks about striking Bilbo.
Bilbo apologizes and asks to be told about the events of the Shire. Strider enters and Bilbo calls him over. Strider skipped the banquet to get news from Arwen's brothers. Bilbo sings him a song he has been working on. Frodo is left alone listening to the music. Swiftly he sank under its shining weight into a deep realm of sleep.
Bilbo chants a long song and an elf asks him to repeat it so they can listen more carefully. Just before Frodo leaves the Shire, the Gaffer is visited by one of the Ringwraiths, which asks him about the whereabouts of a Mr. A farmer who drives Frodo and company to the Brandywine River ferry in his wagon. Farmer Maggot once caught Frodo stealing his mushrooms, so Frodo is afraid of him. The innkeeper at the Prancing Pony in Bree. A jovial, mysterious, and powerful being who dances around his small realm, singing songs in doggerel.
Tom is extremely old, perhaps immortal, and his origins are unknown. He has great power and is deeply connected to the earth, but he is unconcerned with the world outside his realm. After a long and difficult journey south from Rivendell, and a near-catastrophic attempt to cross over the Misty Mountains via the Pass of Caradhras , the Fellowship descended into Moria. In the former Dwarf-kingdom, they found evidence that Orcs had slain Gimli's kinsman Balin and other Dwarves who had returned there.
They were soon confronted by the Balrog known as Durin's Bane , who had many Orc and Troll minions under his control. Gandalf fell facing this menace, and the company was forced to go on without him. This route was quicker than an overland march, but the group was attacked by Orc archers and shadowed by Gollum , who had begun following them in Moria. Forced to portage their boats around the rapids of Sarn Gebir and preparing to take the North Stair to avoid the waterfall of Rauros , the Fellowship soon ran into difficulties.
Boromir finally succumbed to temptation, and attempted to seize the Ring from Frodo. This led to Frodo using the Ring to escape and he and Sam leaving to spare the others the lure of it. The repentant Boromir died trying to defend Merry and Pippin against a large force of Uruks from Isengard. The Fellowship was dissolved on the banks of the Anduin that day. Frodo and Sam carried on towards Mordor; Boromir was given funerary rites and sent floating over the falls, and Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli departed on their way to save Merry and Pippin.
After Boromir died the Fellowship split into three paths. Upon arriving at the site of the battle, Aragorn discovered that the hobbits fled deep into Fangorn Forest.
Gandalf assured them that Merry and Pippin were safe knowing they were in the hands of Treebeard. Frodo and Sam continued their journey, getting closer to Mordor.
